Warner Bros. now has a new director for The LEGO Movie sequel. Deadline is reporting that Chris McKay will be the one directing the sequel to one of the best animated movies of all-time. If McKay’s name sounds familiar, then you may know that he worked on the very hilarious Robot Chicken series on Adult Swim. He also edited a lot of the animation for The LEGO Movie. McKay will be joining the team of Phil Lord and Chris Miller who will now be producing the second movie as well as the writers, Jared Stern and Michelle Morgan. Deadline also notes that the second movie will be a straight sequel even though the studio was still in talks about the Ninjago Movie.
The LEGO Movie has grossed $361 million worldwide in a little over a month in the theaters and is the #1 movie for 2014. The LEGO Movie 2 release date is set for May 26, 2017 so the studio has a few years to make the sequel as good, if not better, than the first movie.
